Game of Finger Worms (The)
by Herve Tullet
Age Range: Under_5
Hervé Tullet has created a series of interactive board books that will help to develop and stimulate a young child’s imagination. Highly innovative, they allow children to explore basic concepts of shapes and colours. The Game of Finger Worms has children creating their own story using their fingers to become a ‘finger worm’. There is a suggestion at the back of the book of drawing two eyes and a mouth on your finger to create the character. The child can then put their finger through the holes and follow the story by pretending that the finger worm is hiding in eggs or cakes, in prehistoric times with dinosaurs and even swimming at the bottom of the sea! The novelty aspect of the book allows them to be used as toys which can be read and played with again and again. Even though these books may appear simple at first glance their unique concept will aid children in the development of reading and literacy. Originally published in English by Templar Publishing in 2007, Phaidon have reissued this and other titles in their 'Let's Play Games!'series including: The Game of Mix-up Art,The Game of Light, The Game of Patterns, The Game of Mix and Match and The Game of Let's Go
