Yakari: The Lake Monster
by Job
Age Range: 9-11
Yakari is a young Sioux Native American who can understand and speak animal language. In this story, Yakari and his faithful horse Little Thunder, meet up with their friends the Beavers. Wild Rose is very worried about her son Linden Tree who is not his usual self and seems to be suffering from melancholy refusing to leave his den. But the Beavers have more important things to worry about as they must make repairs to their precious dam which has been damaged by the heavy rains.
Yakari tries everything he can think of to help Linden Tree but to no avail. That is until someone claims to have seen a huge monster in the river that looks like a giant snake. This causes great consternation and excitement and Yakari and the beavers must help solve the mystery of this strange creature.
Yakari: The Lake Monster is the seventeenth adventure in the comic book series from France by his Swiss creators' writer Job (André Jobin) and artist Derib (Claude de Ribaupierre). Job’s charming story, translated by Jerome Saincantin is accompanied by Derib’s stunning artwork throughout.
