A Hippo's Tale
by Lena Landstrom
Age Range: Under_5
At the river’s edge where the hippos live, life is pleasant. The big hippos relax at the beach, while the little hippos love diving. But Mrs Hippopotamus likes to be alone and have peace and quiet especially when she is bathing. Each night she takes a bath in a solitary spot on the beach while her seaweed pudding is baking. When one day she finds a monkey fishing near her beach, Mrs Hippopotamus has to come up with a solution that will allow her to continue to bathe in solitude, however, it doesn’t quite go according to plan!
Swedish author and illustrator Lena Landström’s hippos are evocative. The detailed pen-and-ink watercolour artwork is full of gentle humour and expression.
