Little Factory of Illustration (The)
by Florie Saint-Val
Age Range: 6-8
The Little Factory of Illustration: LiFITO is opening its doors so come on in and explore. Join the Artful Sketcher on a wonderful guided tour through the different levels and corridors of the factory. Meet the many artists, such as curly-haired Miss Line who draws for hours without lifting her pencil off the page; Roxy, Jojo and Bob who are responsible for loading up the colour fountain where they love to hurtle down the tube-organs to provide more paint, and Doodler who is the world expert in doodling.
On the factory floor there is so much hustle and bustle as colours are delivered and the picture machine is re-stocked. You can visit the Palindrome Portraits or the Collage team followed by climbing to the roof of the factory building to see the Symmetrius. There's also the chance to play games like the Lulugram or Domipics, (a game pocket is at the back of the book).
Children will be inspired to create their own portfolios in this amazing kaleidoscopic picture and activity book by French author and illustrator Florie Saint-Val. Her completely off-beat illustrations burst with colour and the wonderful humorous text, translated by the award-winning translator Sarah Ardizzone, is a treat.
From colouring in to doodling, experimenting with new art techniques to building an Alphabet Sculpture, using the Machine of a Thousand Faces, or creating a collage there is always something new and exciting to discover. Finally, readers can have their very own personal office and a major exhibition in their honour.
The Little Factory of Illustration really is a feast for the eyes. A beautiful world of imagination that children will love becoming immersed in.
