Good Little Wolf
by Kristina Andres
Age Range: Under_5
Some wolves are big bad wolves, but this one isn’t; he’s really a good little wolf and he just can’t help it. Good Little Wolf can be a bit overzealous at times and on occasions misunderstood, especially because he sometimes pretends to be bad although everyone knows he doesn’t mean it!
This imaginative tale from Swiss author/illustrator Kristina Andres play on the traditional ‘big bad wolf’ stories with their darker elements. Here they are made light of in the expressive and humorous artwork. The wolf’s, features are exaggerated to the point of caricature; in one illustration the wolf’s head appears through the roof of the house as he tells his friends “I’ll grow and GROW and GROW right through the roof.” While another one shows the Good Little Wolf asking his friends to come in from the rain to shelter in his mouth amongst his razor sharp teeth and once he even dressed up as Little Red Riding Hood. The opening picture shows the wolf together with smaller animals in a box perhaps suggesting that they are all toys.
