Sticker Art Shapes: Paul Klee
by Slyvie Delpech and Caroline Leclerc
Age Range: 6-8
Paul Klee
The Sticker Art Shapes series from France are a fun way for children to discover the works of some of the world’s most famous artists while at the same time enabling them to create their own unique masterpiece.
This book explores six of Swiss artist Paul Klee‘s paintings. He defined himself as a ‘painter poet’. His work oscillated between the abstract and the dream-like. Light and music played a key part in his compositions and he also experimented with backgrounds, shapes, colour, signs and pictograms.
At the front of the book is a helpful page of information about the artist, his life and work that will help to put the paintings into context.
Children can look at the original work and then try out their own version on the opposite page by arranging the re-useable stickers. They can experiment with colours, shapes and composition to recreate the original or produce their own individual piece of art.
Other titles in the series are: Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Alexander Calder, Sonia Delaunay, Vassily Kandinsky, Gustav Klimt, Henri Matisse, Joan Miró, Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol.
