Carnival of Colours
by Herve Tullet
Age Range: Under_5
Hervé Tullet has created a series of interactive board books that will help to develop and stimulate a young child’s imagination. Highly innovative, they allow children to explore basic concepts of shapes and colours.
Carnival of Colours is particularly designed to teach children the various combinations of different colours. Each page asks the following question ‘who are my parents?’ It then gives various colours to choose from. On the adjacent spread there is a page with a hole in the shape of a square, triangle or circle. So for instance, the small purple square is the result of the combination of blue and red, while the green circle is the combination of yellow and blue. As well as teaching children about colours, the book also introduces basic shapes such as a triangle, circle and square.
The novelty aspect of the book allows them to be used as toys which can be read and played with again and again. Even though these books may appear simple at first glance their unique concept will aid children in the development of reading and literacy.
Others books in the series are Eye to Eye, Finger Circus, Funny Fingers, Mix-up Art, Mix-up Shapes, Mix-up World and World of Mirrors
