Poka & Mia At the Cinema
by Kitty Crowther
Age Range: Under_5
One rainy afternoon Poka decides to take Mia to the cinema. Mia is really excited but insists that all her dolls must come along too.
This is the ‘enchanting world’, as illustrator Axel Scheffler says on the back of the book, of renowned Belgian writer and illustrator Kitty Crowther, who has created over 30 books for children and has won many international awards and prizes including the most coveted Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award in 2010.
‘Poka and Mia’ is a series of books by Crowther that have been translated into English for the first time by Ann Drummond for Tate Publishing. The delicate, distinctive illustrations in pencil, crayons and ink are bound to be extremely popular with a new audience. Children are sure to adore these quirky, endearing insects and adults will be able to identify with Poka and the situations he finds himself in too.
