Where is my Sister?
by Sven Nordqvist
Age Range: 6-8
A little brother wants to find his missing sister. She keeps disappearing all the time because she says the world is a very big and there are so many fantastic new things to see. Her brother enlists some animal friends to help him in his search. But in order to search in all the right places, he needs to understand how his sister thinks and what she enjoy doing. While they look, he reminisces allowing the reader to get to know his sister, even though she only appears as a little dot on each page.
Swedish author and illustrator Sven Nordqvist got the idea for this book 25 years ago but it was not published until 2007 having taken nearly a year and a half to create. Nordqvist liked the idea of images that tell stories because without the need for explanations anything can happen! The text is meant to be independent of the pictures so that a child can explore and derive pleasure from the book without it.
A slightly surreal book, with intricate and detailed illustrations that will take the reader on their own magical journey.
