Lost Kitten (The)
by LEE
Age Range: Under_5
When Hina and her mother find a cat leaving one of her kittens on their doorstep they know that they have to look after it. While Hina’s mother goes off shopping to buy some cat food she leaves Hina in charge of looking after the kitten, but when she can’t find it she panics. Where can it have got too?
This is a lovely, gentle story by Japanese author Lee, translated by Cathy Hirano) about taking care of a pet. What really makes this picture book so special though, is the exquisite brush-stroke artwork by acclaimed Japanese illustrator Komako Sakai. Her atmospheric illustrations skilfully capture a child’s curiosity about another living creature. They are so expressive, making it an ideal book for young children who are being introduced to a kitten or puppy for the first time as well as cat lovers of all ages.
