Mole's Journey
by E.T.W. Igel
Age Range: 6-8
One day Mole catches a cold and has to take to his bed. He feels terrible, one
minute he is shivering and sneezing and the next he is burning with fever. As Mole
snuggles down into his bed he thinks about his dream of travelling the world.
Strangely enough, Mole’s cold symptoms are reflected in his journey as he begins
to dig through underground tunnels – to the freezing North Pole, the sweltering
heat of the desert, the tallest mountains where the air is so dry and finally to the
deep jungle that is steamy and humid. When Mole gets back from his world
tour he finds his friends sitting by his bed. His cold is cured and he has discovered
that there is no place like home.
A wonderful book for all those who are not well but don’t want to get bored lying in bed. This is a heart-warming story with beautiful, vibrant illustrations by Sibylle Kirchmayr. An ideal picture book to read aloud or for independent reading.
