World of Mamoko in the Time of Dragons (The)
by Aleksandra Mizielinska and Daniel Mizielinksi
Age Range: 6-8
A great banquet is to be held in Mamoko tonight, but the king has been kidnapped by a dragon! Minstrel Moo is having a rocky day, Robin Hoof’s arrow has gone astray, Ava Smirks keeps a bird’s eye-view on things and Mystical Miss Tubb sees trouble brewing. There is all sorts of medieval mayhem in Mamoko. Will the king make the banquet after all?
In this amazing wordless picture book from two of Poland’s most innovative illustrators, Aleksandra Mizielińska and Daniel Mizieliński, the world of Mamoko is where the reader becomes the storyteller. Children will have fun following each of the 26 characters, (who are introduced in the inside cover at the front of the book with some helpful clues), as they travel through the pages discovering the kaleidoscope of tales waiting to be uncovered.
Each double-page spread has a mass of intricate activity within the vibrant, rich pen and watercolour illustrations. The attention to detail is incredible, but this is no surprise from this Polish duo that created Welcome to Mamoko, Mamoko in the Year 3000 (Big Picture Press) and two amazing non-fiction books about architecture and design from around the world, H.O.U.S.E. and D.E.S.I.G.N. (Gecko Press). Readers will love the endearing comical characters as they each go on their own separate adventure.
