Hotel For Cats: No Room for Trouble
by Marie Pavlenko
Age Range: 6-8
This is the second book in the ‘Hotel for Cats’ series by French duo author Marie Pavlenko and illustrator Marie Voyelle about the lovable four cats – bossy Bobine, who secretly wants to learn to knit; tough-talking Mulot; wannabe singing superstar Carpette; and Couscousse, who’s friends with a ghost called Bertie.
It’s a busy time at the Hotel Charamba in Paris with a new intake of residents to be checked in and made comfy. When Bobine finds out that Magda, the hotel owner’s great nephew is coming to stay, it sends Mulot into meltdown. The rest of the gang have their work cut out as they must find a way to avoid a ‘cat-astrophe’ at all costs.
Pavlenko’s witty and lively narrative with a good dose of ‘cat-word’ puns, – “ A-meow-zing”; “fur-midable; “Psy-cat-ologist and cats Paw-jamas - excellently translated by Anna Brooke, is accompanied by comical black and white illustrations from Voyelle making Hotel for Cats: No Room for Trouble another rollicking read.
