Tortoise Who Wanted to Sleep
by Roberto Aliaga
Age Range: Under_5
Tortoise is terribly tired and settles down in bed ready to sleep through the winter months. Just as he is dozing off there is a knock at the door. ‘Who can it be at this time .....? He washed his face and cleaned his shell because you can’t go out if you smell’. Tortoise discovers a surprise on his doorstep and returns once more to bed, but just as his eyelids are about to close there is another knock on the door!
The Tortoise Who Wanted to Sleep is an enchanting and funny story about caring for others. The riot of colourful and humorous illustrations by Italian artist Alessandra Cimatoribus are magical. Another book with repetition that young children can join in with at bedtime which will make this a firm favourite.
