Mellops Go Spelunking (The)
by Tomi Ungerer
Age Range: Under_5
When Mr Mellops' golf ball rolls down a crevice, the family's natural response is to prepare to go on a spelunking expedition! As well as the elements of adventure, such as escaping from a water-filled cave and encountering a smugglers' hoard, there is also an educational element to this story too, with the exploration of the crevice, at the bottom of which they discover Stalagmites and Stalactites, deposits that have formed from dripping water as well as their impressive archaeological finds.
This is another quirky picture book in the Mellops' series, reissued by Phaidon, from the internationally acclaimed Alsace writer and illustrator Tomi Ungerer. It was first published more than 50 years ago but its retro feel will appeal to a brand new audience of children and be as popular now as it was then confirming that the Mellops’ really are the world’s most adventurous family of pigs.
Other titles in the series are: The Mellops Go Diving for Treasure, The Mellops Strike Oil and Christmas Eve at the Mellops'
