Mrs Pepperpot Learns to Swim
by Alf Proysen
Age Range: Under_5
The Mrs Pepperpot stories by Norwegian author Alf Prøysen have become modern classics and firm favourites with children for generations, having first appeared in 1959. Mrs Pepperpot has a huge problem - she shrinks to the size of a pepperpot at the most inconvenient moments so she often finds herself in all sorts of trouble.
Mrs Pepperpot is determined to learn to swim, so when all the village children go for a picnic in the mountains she realises that she will have the pool in the wood all to herself giving her the perfect chance to practice. Just as she is about to jump into the water disaster strikes as she shrinks to her pepperpot size. Now the pool seems as big as an ocean but luckily a friendly frog comes to her rescue.
Delightful illustrations by Hilda Offen accompany this abridged version by Red Fox for the very young. Perfect for parents and carers to read aloud and introduce a brand new audience to the hilarious antics of Mrs Pepperpot.
