Secret Life of a Tiger (The)
by Przemystaw Wechterowicz
Age Range: Under_5
Tiger is brave and cheerful and he is almost never, ever fierce. During the day he likes to wander the neighbourhood, chat with friends, do some thinking, and have a nap and a bite to eat. In fact Tiger is rather sensitive, but there is some worrying gossip going around the jungle about how wild and dangerous he is!
This quirky and entertaining book comes from the talented Polish picture book duo Przemystaw Wechterowic and Emilia Dziubak behind Hug Me, Please! The text is funny and irreverent and there are some hilarious antics as Tiger shows his softer side to the other inhabitants of the jungle Dziubak’s lush expressive illustrations are full of expression, whether its Tiger taking a snooze draped over a branch; making fruit salad for a baby elephant or creating new hairstyles for a group of Orangutans.
In a gentle, humorous way the story cleverly turns the stereotypical characteristics of a Tiger on its head defying conventional expectation and demonstrating the possibility of difference. Just as with Hug Me, Please! this is a story that will capture the imagination of any child.
