diminished, we are starved’

No One Is Angry Today
by Toon Tellegen
Age Range: 6-8
Acclaimed master storyteller Dutch author Toon Tellegen has created some wry, thought-provoking philosophical tales, translated by David Colmer. Following on from The Day No One Was Angry this second title contains ten short stories that each deal with the theme of anger and how the forest animals explore an often-misunderstood emotion as they look at it in all its guises. “Maybe we don’t have it in us to get really angry, ” said the squirrel while the other animals looked at each other and frowned. The tortoise pondered as to what anger might be, “something heavy,” or “Maybe it’s so heavy nobody can lift it.”
There are stories about the cricket’s letter to the party-wrecking bear or the squirrel who is far too polite to tell the elephant that dancing with him is a challenge or the ant who fights with anger itself.
French illustrator Marc Boutavant has created another set of stunning expressive watercolour illustrations with each page packed full of rich detail and lush colour. He cleverly captures the body language and facial expressions of each animal beautifully.
This is another delightfully illustrated storybook from this winning author and illustrator duo.
