Detective Gordon: A Case for Buffy
by Ulf Nilsson
Age Range: 9-11
Chief Detective Gorden and Chief Detective Buffy, with the help of two new recruits, Gertrude and Sune, who are attending the ‘small’ police school, take on the most important case ever investigated – to discover what happened to Buffy’s mother and family. Their adventure leads them beyond the edges of the forest and all the way to the mysterious Cave Island.
Buffy can’t remember what happened to her family because it was so traumatic but slowly the memories start flooding back as they begin their search of the island. While carrying out their investigation the brave detectives must also contend with the wicked fox who lives there.
As in the previous delectable titles, the lovable philosophical Detective Gordon is always ready with a wise word or two. Buffy is now a confident Chief Detective and together with the little police helpers, they are able to solve this important case.
Another touching and funny Detective Gordon case from Swedish author Ulf Nilsson, translated by Julia Marshall. As always, the lovely expressive and humorous watercolour artwork by Gitte Spee makes this series of books such a joy to read.
Other titles in the series are Detective Gordon: The First Case (2015) and Detective Gordon: A Complicated Case (2016) and A Case in Any Case (2017) all reviewed on the website.
