Alfie The Werewolf: The Evil Triplets
by Paul van Loon
Age Range: 6-8
This is the fourth book in the ‘Alfie the Werewolf’ adventures by Dutch author Paul van Loon about Alfie who is no ordinary boy – at full moon he transforms into a werewolf!
When Alfie sees two mysterious figures that look just like his werewolf-hating neighbour Mrs Chalker, who is supposed to be locked up in the RCUPA (The Reception Centre for Unusual People and Animals), he thinks he is seeing things. But now, there really is three of her! It turns out she is a triplet, and together with her sisters Checker and Choker they have formed The R.O.W. Club (The Rub Out Werewolves Club) determined to annihilate all werewolves. Once again, it is Alfie’s friend Tim and his parents who come to his rescue.
Paul van Loon is one of Holland’s most popular writers and has sold over one million copies of his titles in the Netherlands alone. The plucky Alfie is endearing and the engaging adventure stories together with the delightful comic black and white illustrations by Hugo van Look are ideal for the 6-9 age group.
There are a total of six books in the ‘Alfie’ series that have been translated into English but they are individual stories and can be read separately. The other titles are: Birthday Surprise, Full Moon, Wolf Wood, Silvertooth and Werewolf Secrets.
