OIW Co-Founder Edgardo Zaghini has always had a lifelong passion for Italian children’s literature. Over the last few months, he has been putting together an impressive A-Z of historic Italian children’s literature to highlight authors who have made a remarkable contribution to Italy’s children’s literature scene.

The purpose of Historical Journey into Italian Literature is to bring to the attention of English-speaking readers many books from the past that are unknown and have probably been forgotten in their own original country of origin.

Although OIW’s main focus is on translated children’s literature, and there are only a few cited in this three-part article that have been translated into English, this is an important piece of research into Italian children’s literature that will be useful to students and researchers specialising in Italian literature.
