‘We need the literature of other countries to expand our
horizons and stimulate our ideas. Without it, we are not only
diminished, we are starved’

Lotta Says No!
by Astrid Lindgren
Age Range: 6-8
Lotta is an engaging, funny, naughty and extremely lovable four-year old who gets into all kinds of scrapes with her brother and sister. From standing on a dung heap in the rain because she thinks this will make her grow to sticking her salami to the window of the train carriage, Lotta is exasperating. She sends her mother into a panic when she disappears on the train and is found a few carriages up talking to all the people in the carriage, ‘We’ve got a man in our carriage with a wart on his face and he doesn’t even know it’ she exclaims.
Astrid Lindgren’s Lotta comes alive with the comical illustrations by Tony Ross and will continue to be enjoyed by children everywhere for years to come.
