Rita and Whatsit at the Beach
by Jean-Philippe Arrou-Vignod
Age Range: Under_5
Rita loves going to the beach. Today she plans to fly her kite, have a go on a pedalo and build a sandcastle fit for a princess. Whatsit, however, is not quite so keen. He would rather chase crabs and shrimps, eat sticky buns, and sleep. When he disappears, Rita is not prepared for a surprise attack on her beautiful sandcastle. Whatsit then decides he loves going to the beach and it is Rita is no longer quite so enthusiastic!
This is a lovely series of books about Rita, a rather determined, cross and bossy little girl, and Whatsit, the cheeky, playful, philosophical dog with no name.
Jean-Philippe Arrou-Vignod’s delightful dialogue between the two friends is accompanied by charming, minimalistic illustrations by Olivier Tallec, full of detail and wit.
The other titles in the series are - Rita and Whatsit, Christmas with Rita and Whatsit, Rita and Whatsit at School, Rita and Whatsit's New Friend and Rita and Whatsit go on a Picnic.
