Roberta and Me
by Sibylle and Jurgen Rieckhoff
Age Range: 6-8
For a girl from the city it is love at first sight when she meets Roberta for the first time. Roberta the sheep seems like the perfect pet because she is clever, clean and sociable. But city life isn’t easy for Roberta – there is the lift to be negotiated, eating meals at the table with the family and trips to the supermarket – and even though she adapts well to the new rules, the family soon begin to wonder if Roberta might be pining for something more.
This is a charming story inspired by a seaside holiday that the authors took with their daughter, Johanna. She also met her perfect sheep – although her wish to take him home only came true in book form! Amusing, cartoon-like illustrations make this a fun book that children will identify with.
