Mr Postmouse Goes on Holiday
by Marianne Dubuc
Age Range: 6-8
Even when Mr Postmouse goes on holiday he still manages to deliver post to his friends! Mr Postmouse, his wife and three children Lulu, Pierrot and Pipsqueak are off on their travels. Itís an action-packed holiday around the globe. Their first stop is a visit to Aunt Maisy in her caravan in a forest; then itís a day at the beach; enjoying a cruise; visiting a volcanic island, the desert, jungle, mountains and even a trip in a hot air balloon.
This is the sequel to Here Comes Mr Postmouse by award-winning Canadian author and illustrator Marianne Dubec and itís another visual treat for the reader as they follow Mr Postmouse on his journey through the detailed cross-section double-page spreads. Dubuc's attention to detail is meticulous with plenty of humour in the artwork Ė Lulu building a sand castle for Mr Crab complete with chair and table; an operatic cat on the cruise liner; a stork waiter serving two love-struck turtles; Pipsqueak toasting Marshmallows on top of Dragonís volcanic abode; Mrs Postmouse having tea with Miss Sloth in the jungle and the intricate detail of a department store in the city.
There is so much to feast your eyes on in this picture book; it can be looked at again and again because there will always be something new to discover.
