Wildwitch 4: Bloodling
by Lene Kaaberbol
Age Range: 9-11
It is the night before Clara’s thirteenth birthday – her Tridecimal night, when she will finally come of age as a Wildwitch. Clara is really looking forward to celebrating with all her Wildworld friends as well as her family at her Aunt Isa’s house. However, the celebrations don’t go according to plan. Clara’s mother is anxious about the ‘Tridecimal’ and is determined to prevent it happening because she doesn’t want her daughter to become a wildwitch. However, it is Clara’s decision and when she experiences not one, but hundreds of animals asking for her help she realises her destiny.
When Kahla, a young Wildwitch is bitten by a blood-sucking leech and a mysterious attack endangers Clara’s father, it seems something is out to get her and those close to her. Clara knows she has to find the source of the threat, even if it means confronting a dark and terrible secret from her mother’s past. Her search leads her back to the wild and rockbound coast of Westmark, towards a terrifying battle that will test her to the limit.
