Chicken Who Had a Toothache (The)
by Benedicte Guettier
Age Range: Under_5
The Chicken who had a Toothache is a delightfully wacky book by French author and illustration Bénédicte Guettier about a chicken who, along with her five off-spring, one of which is a crocodile she hatched by accident, pay a visit to the dentist. Each one is examined in turn: the crocodile has exceptionally bad teeth because he's rather partial to sweets so is none too happy when told he will need to change his diet!
Guettier's simple, amusing illustrative style uses bold primary colours and expressive characters that are instantly appealing. Children are sure to enjoy this hilarious story with its surprising twist at the end and adults will find themselves chuckling too.
