The Little Witch
by Otfried Preussler
Age Range: 6-8
The Little Witch was only a hundred and twenty-seven years old which is not at all old for a witch! She spent about six hours a day doing exercises in witchcraft, but no matter how hard she tries she can never get her spells right. Then the Little Witch went and disgraced herself at the Walpurgis Night Party and was given a year to become a good witch or be expelled from the coven. Would the Little Witch be able to pass the test? So many strange and funny things happen to her during the year that sometimes she thought she never would.
Written in 1958 by well-known German author Otfried Preussler it appeared in English in 1973 translated by Anthea Bell.
