‘We need the literature of other countries to expand our
horizons and stimulate our ideas. Without it, we are not only
diminished, we are starved’
(The Times, Magnus Linklater 29/06/05)
by Stephanie Blake
Age Range: Under_5
This is a quirky picture book that will have toddlers in fits of laughter right from the start. Little rabbit is loved by his family but there is just one problem. Whenever a member of his family asks him a question he can only answer rudely and say one thing – “Poo Bum”. If his mother tells him it is time to get up, little rabbit replies “Poo Bum”, if his father tells him to eat his spinach, he replies “Poo Bum” and when his sister tells him to go and have his bath, he replies “Poo Bum”. No matter what his family say to him the reply is always the same.
When little rabbit meets a hungry wolf who asks “May I eat you, my little rabbit?” you’ve guessed it, the reply is “Poo Bum”. The trouble is that this time Little Rabbit might just have gone too far!
Stephanie Blake has created a very funny, irreverent picture book that will be enjoyed by both children and parents. The joke doesn’t get old as there are twists to this simple story that you don’t expect, the surprise ending in particular, will create a lot of giggles and chuckles from adults too.
The eye-catching, bold illustrations with the coloured background against the black text will attract children instantly to this book as will the title.
