Draw with ... Pablo Picasso
by Ana Salvador
Age Range: 9-11
The ‘Draw with …’ series from France are an excellent way of introducing children to the work of Spanish artist Pablo Picasso. Step-by-step French author Ana Salvador shows how to recreate some of Picasso’s most famous motifs.
From faces, birds (including the famous ‘Dove of Peace’ created in 1950), flowers and strange creatures there are so many motifs to choose from. Interspersed amongst the pictures are quotations from the artist and at the front of the book there is a double-page spread with information about the artist, his life and work.
Children can have fun copying each of the motifs which will help them to appreciate Picasso’s drawings and inspire them to improvise and to try out many more of their own.
