Sticker Art Shapes: Warhol
by Pépito Lopez and Sylvia Pouradier Duteil
Age Range: 6-8
The Sticker Art Shapes series from France are a fun way for children to discover the works of some of the world’s most famous artists while at the same time enabling them to create their own unique masterpiece.
This book explores six of American artist Andy Warhol images. He was a central figure in the Pop Art movement and one of the Twentieth century’s most innovative artists. He studied graphic design and began a career in magazine illustration and advertising. His silkscreen printing of the repeated images of tins of Campbell’s soup are reproduced here.
At the front of the book is a helpful page of information about the artist, his life and work that will help to put the paintings into context. Children can look at the original work and then try out their own version on the opposite page by arranging the re-useable stickers. They can experiment with colours, shapes and composition to recreate the original or produce their own individual piece of art.
Other titles in the series are: Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Alexander Calder, Sonia Delaunay, Vassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Gustav Klimt, Henri Matisse, Joan Miró and Pablo Picasso.
