‘We need the literature of other countries to expand our
horizons and stimulate our ideas. Without it, we are not only
diminished, we are starved’
(The Times, Magnus Linklater 29/06/05)
by Peter Schössow
Age Range: Under_5
Another enchanting wordless (or almost!) picture book from Gecko Press in a mini hardback gift format. One very stormy day a man is out walking. As the winds gust around him he loses his hat. He chases after it and before he knows what is happening, the wind is lifting him off the ground and the next thing he knows is that he is flying like a bird! Over the sea, over the fields, next to a plane in the sky, and finally back down to earth again. It was such fun that he wants to do the whole thing ‘Again!’
Award-winning German illustrator Peter Schössow has created delightful simplistic illustrations with minimal use of colour in greens and reds. The humour is conveyed in the few changes of the character’s expression and the final single word on the last page. This is a fun book for parents to share with their children as it will encourage them to use their imagination.
