Little Red Cap
by The Brothers Grimm
Age Range: 6-8
This is the much-loved fairy tale, first told by Charles Perrault and later by the Brothers Grimm. It is a story of innocence and trust that contains a darker element. When Little Red Cap sets out into the forest to visit her grandmother, she meets a cunning wolf who befriends her but all the while is planning to have her for his next meal!
Little Red Cap, translated from the German by Elizabeth Crawford, is accompanied by delicate pen-and-ink illustrations by award-winning illustrator Lisbeth Zwerger that bring out the humour in this tale. Little Red Cap appears winsome and naughty while the wolf is portrayed as beguiling.
