Where Do They Go When It Rains?
by Gerda Muller
Age Range: Under_5
Twins Luke and Marion go for a walk with their cousin Stef who lives in the countryside with their Grandmother. They pass the farm and on to the pond to look for some water plants that Stef needs for his fish tank. Black clouds are looming and it is not long before the heavens open and it starts to rain.
Where do the animals go when it rains the twins want to know. The ones that live in the pond are safe in the water; the butterflies, midges and ladybirds hide in the plants but there are some animals that like the rain and some that don’t. While the twins enjoy splashing around in the puddles before going back to Grandma’s house, they learn what insects and animals do when it rains and where they find shelter.
The sweet detailed illustrations by Gerda Muller give an authentic glimpse of the animals – the pigs love rolling around in the mud while the cat scurries indoors. This is a charming book that looks at a variety of animals and how they take shelter from the rain which is ideal for encouraging a simple observation of nature.
